Layer N changes to Britestream

Austin-based Layer N Networks Inc. has changed its name and its business model.

The fabless chip design firm has changed its name to Britestream Networks Inc. and has altered the way it delivers its chip to buyers.

The firm will still offer a version of its security chip, but now will also offer a circuit board with the chip already in place.

The firm has 48 employees and may expand to 70 over the next year. The company is looking for sales and technical position.

The company has raised $40 million in four years.
