Windows Server System Edition Provides Simple and Secure Privacy for Microsoft Exchange Email and IIS Services

AUSTIN, Texas – August 29, 2005 – Britestream Networks, a leading provider of hardware-based data privacy solutions, today announced availability of Britestream Applied: Windows Server System Edition, the first offering of the company’s application-specific solutions that provide a breakthrough for the growing challenge of data security. Britestream Applied: Windows Server System Edition provides a secure, scalable and simple solution for processing SSL-encrypted network traffic for Microsoft Windows Server System Applications: IIS and Exchange.

SSL-based encryption has become the predominant method of providing privacy and confidentiality for data in transit. However, implementing SSL in software can leave applications vulnerable to attacks and require updates which can negatively impact the performance of the server. With the Britestream Applied Windows Server System Edition, SSL can be turned on by default in more server applications for the secure transmission of data, both inside and outside the network.

Security for Exchange Messaging

Adding the Britestream SSL security Network Interface Card (NIC) to a front-end Exchange 2003 server provides a simple way to add fortified security and to extend the end-to-end secure connection to both remote and internal users. Additionally, the Britestream product provides the ability to concurrently run all four Exchange modes (Outlook, OWA, OMA and ActiveSync) on an Exchange front-end server, giving email users a choice in the way they securely synchronize or access their email.

Scalable Performance for IIS Web Services

The Britestream solution is based upon SSL, the industry standard for data encryption, which is built into every browser. High volume transaction web sites use SSL as the method to secure transmissions from the browser to the web server. The Britestream SSL security NIC offers 100% offload and termination for this extremely processor intense function. It supports advanced cryptographic functions by allowing the usage of your choice of 1K, 2K or 4K key sizes, as well as supporting a variety of encryption algorithms, including AES, RC4, 3DES and DES, without the need for additional cryptographic libraries.
